CEM Can Ricart was the venue for a special Adaptajocs event, an inter-school initiative aimed at primary school students in the Ciutat Vella district. This activity gave children the opportunity to discover and experience adapted sports firsthand, thanks to the coordination and engagement of students from the CIATE program at Institut Verdaguer.
Organized by the Educational Resource Center (CRP) and the Ciutat Vella Physical Education Seminar, the main goal of the event was to promote inclusion and raise awareness about different adapted sports, fostering values such as empathy, cooperation, and respect.
Throughout the morning, participants moved through six stations featuring various adapted games, including goalball, wheelchair slalom, and other inclusive disciplines. These activities allowed children to step into the shoes of people with disabilities, experiencing the challenges and skills required to play adapted sports.
The event saw participation from several schools in the district, including Collaso i Gil, Rubén Darío, Alexandre Galí, Mediterrània, Institut Escola Elisabets, Vedruna-Àngels, and Baixeras. A special acknowledgment was given to Institut Verdaguer for its efforts in organizing and leading the event.
This inspiring experience showcased how sports can serve as a powerful tool for inclusion and experiential learning, giving children and young people the chance to share meaningful moments in an environment of collaboration, diversity, and perseverance.
