Summary of the 10th communal triathlon
On Saturday May 10th the 10th indoor communal triathlon, which CLUB LLEUROSPORT organises each Spring in our Sports Centre at CEM Can Ricart, was held.
For this special 10th anniversary event the organisation took on added responsibility; in addition to the effort to generate the greatest number of donations for the designated body this year, we wanted to organise an event that differentiated itself from those previous, in which so many participants, volunteers, and the designated body itself, would be able to experience an extra special day, and as this was a must, to make a route in the form of an homage to the last 10 years in the life of this communal event which seems to supersede itself in terms of quality year on year.
The main development this year was that a large part of the trial took place outdoors, specifically in la rambla del Raval. An installation with a giant canvass adorning la rambla was set up the night prior to the event, and on the day of the race, the whole of la rambla was decorated and prepared for a stunning sporting and communal spectacle. The outdoor trial allowed all participants to experience a much more attractive event, and insured the trial resembled a conventional triathlon.
In the end, as was bound to occur, records for participation of sports people were broken, with around 230 people competing, voluntarily, with more than 120 involved in the organisation, and most importantly, €8504.65 was raised for the designated body, the park at Sant Joan de Deu, breaking another historic record in funds raised. During the speech which closed the event, those responsible for the organisation expressed their eternal gratitude, and explained the nature of the project to the volunteers and participants, which consisted in helping to integrate people suffering from mental health issues into the society to which they should always belong.
We’ve now celebrated 10 years, but we’re already thinking about next year’s event, looking for a way to surprise the participants yet again, and above all to contribute our small portion to the fabric of Barcelona society.
